5 decisions that changed Indian
by ALOK DHOTEKAR on Aug 15, 2007 09:56 PM

When I started to read this article I was expecting some very objective points of presentation. However it seems we continue to prove the joke about Indians right- One Indian Philosopher, two Indians Discussion, three Indians%u2026 TOTAL CONFUSION%u2026 anyway let me put my reading and findings on this%u2026.

In my opinion the 5 decisions that changed India are :

1.      Appointment of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Finance Minister in 1991. This initiated Liberalisation, Privatisation & Globalisation.

2.      Setting up of C-DOT : Today's telecom infrastructure has its roots in that decision.

3.      Bangladesh War : Our neigbour still troubles us because they want to avenge that courageous and capable action that we took.

4.      Political intervention in Judiciary in 1974 : Superseding 8 Judges to appoint a Junior as Chief Justice of India ushered in Judicial non performance. Today common man doesnt trust Judiciary.

5.      The marching orders to MNCs in 1977 : The companies today we invite are the companies we sent out in 1977.

My note was longer, but I cut it short. Its always going to be a difference of opinion. But these are my views. Feel free to write back to me with your views at alokdhotekar@rediffmail.com. If I have erred I would like to know.

Sadly there is something got to do with individual decision making too which has messed the sum total. If only each one could each dedicate to contribute 1 % extra per day, INDIA would have been a Super Power a decade ago.

Vande Matram%u2026.
