RE:India's problem today
by luqman kondeth on Aug 16, 2007 05:11 PM

I dont know where you people get the idea that privatising will automatically bring a PSU out of the red. The world over, the results have been mixed, for example, privatising British railways made it worse than it was before. The government and PSUs are not profit making corporations, they have a social duty, so for eg: WHen CHineese government airlines make flights to inland CHina , they dont do it for the profit (infact they are at huge loss), but they do it to provide services to people. These people then increase economic output to the nation as whole in cities as enterpreneurs, labourers etc. Privatising this airline would mean huge indirect losses to the country not to mention huge discomfort to ordinary people.
