PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Appraisals is the order of the day.Generally speaking appraisers are forthright in appraising. But one out of 10 appraisers may turn out to be unscrupulous. Hence, the individual who in spite being a competent man & high achiever should be prepared for road bumps ahead as it is the appraisers' whims & fancies at times that matter at the time of rating etc. The solution does not lie in complaining but lies in tactfully exposing the bias of the appraiser. Here the reviewer should play a decisive and fair role in differing with the rating by the appraiser and in doing so he will be doing a fair job that promotes the employee retention. If on the other hand he is convinced by the unscrupulous appraiser he is doing a disservice to the company when attrition rate goes up as is the present trend. The dissatisfied employee too must look at the organization he has been working for , it's culture, values and treatment of the employees and their welfare and the whole gamut before taking decision to quit the job. One never knows the new job may have many road -rumbles and the new job should not land him in dissatisfaction again. Hence, one should make an objective assessment of the organization and himself, his potential etc.The reviewer should not be biased and should clearly differ with the appraisers' views and spell out why he does so instead of fusing with the latter's' views . Frequent organizational health studies by the HR wing of the unit should play a pivotal role t
