by the way...

What is the objective of fashion design? I used to think it is supposed to develop new styles and fabrics which people can wear. Is that still the purpose of the fashion industry, or has it just become an industry that creates entertainment for its own sake?
Look at the "fashion weeks" that take place regularly in cities all around the world.
What percentage of the population in these cities would actually buy and wear such clothes?
I understand that it takes a lot of creativity and hard work to become fashion designers, and the models are among the best looking men and women in the world. I have absolutely no problem with fashion shows and the clothing seen in such. But the question remains: What purpose does the fashion industry solve in modern human society?
