Whether you marry your best friend or a stranger chosen by your family, a two-way relationship of respect is critical for the marriage to survive. Treating your life-partner with disrespect lessens your respect in your life-partner's eyes. He or she may forgive you for doing so, but continuing to misbehave and disrespect causes uncertainty of the continuation of a good relationship. Distances between minds, hearts, and souls increase with disrespect. If you love someone, treat them well. If you do not treat them well, you do not deserve to be with them.
