RE:inflation and our FM
by PanchanathamIyer Thiagarajan on Apr 09, 2008 02:51 PM

I am in agreement with Mr Balanarayanan. Afterall Mr Chidambaram is not an economist but a lawyer. For him his family budget and his own taxplanning alone matters and not the poverty of 1/3rd of the Indian population. That is why first he saw to it that dividend income is exempt from tax. His family earns crores of dividend from blue chip cos. This was a long agitated issue of double taxation but not cared for by anyone even from Congress party but the great Chidambaram(But a poor petty shop dealer will have to pay tax on a low basic exemption). When the disposable income is more because of tax sops and the concession is offset by price rise what do you get? But those who have no income at all, think of their plight.
