The universities here have their strong points especially in higher education and research which requires lots of funding that is not available in india. While education upto the undergraduate level is quite good ,the scope of further development after that is severly limited.I am here(Australian national University) for a summer internship totally funded by my professor. The facilities for research are many times better than IITs(where i study); thats because they get such huge funding that you can easily pay for 20 students in india for the funding of a single Phd/Postdoc/Project grant here. Besides having studied in a very competetive enviornment the pressure on indian students shall be non existent. The interaction is also very informal unlike in india, and you can talk to your professor about anything from your girlfriend to last years' nobel leaurates' work. The standard of indian students is also generally very high, and my professor is so impressed ,he seems to have suddenly seen some light and is determined to recruit only indian students in the future.
