Hindu society is divided on the basis of their ancestral callings.There was dignity of work in the prevedic period.Subsequently the division of labour had become division of society treating one section of society over the other with decreasing respect and dignity vertically down the line.The lowest strata of the society is the most contempted lot.There are the untouchables with no human dignity.They were not allowed to mingle with other people.They had to stay outside the perimeter of the selltement of the higher castes.They were not allowed to have education,cultural advancement,equal religious worship and share the economic prosperity.They were treated as slaves in all respects.Dr Ambedkar the champion of the Depressed,fought for reservation of the SC/STs and it was possible constitutionally for the SC/STs to enjoy this privilege.This only a positive discriminative practiced by the Goverment to uplift their lots.Because of the illtreatment meted out to these people ,a deep scar of social deprivation and inferoity complex had set in their mind from which they are yet to recovered from. No amount of concessions or reservztion can heal this scar.The present generation of SC/STs born in cities havinf good education may not feel the effect of casteism but their counterparts in villahes are still the worst sufferers.The present generation of High castes people may not know the atrocities committed on the SC/STs in the past generation but can have the feeilngs of the same going b
