RE:height

Gituji, all poses which make the entire body stretch completely are said to increase height in kids. These also prevent age-related height reduction in adults. These poses include tadasana (palm tree pose) and yastik asana (lying stick pose). The reasoning behind this pose: the stretch provides a spinal traction; boosts nutrient absorption by toning the gut; this in turn ensures nutrients needed for growth are used properly by the body. If you asked about these poses for children, then please remember children below 12 years of age must not hold a pose for long, like an adult. Instead they must do it repeatedly several times. I also recommend two books. Pustak Mahal book, available at all shops, title Increase your height, by Krishna Gopal Vikal, Rs 48. Here is the link, so you can also order directly: http://www.pustakmahal.com/book/search.phtml and Growing with yoga, Santa Cruz institute. Rs 50. The numbers on the book, for the Mumbai-based insti. is 26149917/ 26184531 -- if you are not from Mumbai, you can check out details on how to order it at their website www.yogainstitute.org.
