Racism?
by SSV on Jul 10, 2007 04:01 PM

I totally agree that inside most of the British are racist. But thinking about it I should mention this. During my stay abroad in last couple of years, I noticed Indians abroad dont go around looking for other indians. Tamilians will try to get only tamil friends, nurses from kerala would mingle only with the same community. Andhrapradesh people will keep in touch only with their community. The first thing we ask when we see another same coloured person is which community we belong to. I speak four different indian languages and i never found any difficulty speaking to different community. But i find this attitude of indian community overwhelming. We can't blame them either because the differences we have. I strongly feel Indians are more racist than anyone else though we are most of the time brought up surrounded by varied culture/language. One is more open minded when he is in school, where we have muslim/christian/hindu/bengali/kannada/etc., friends. once we grow we tendto become racist. English people are quite polite but they surely can't escape this nature. Infact, there is racism inside Britain between, English, Welsh, Scottish and NorthernIreland community.
