I have been to many places in India.But the beauty of Shillong and places nearby is amazingly awesome.It is a must visit placed on every tourist itenerary.Sorry to say this..but...It is far better than Nainital,Musssorie,Khandala,etc..etc... The nearest easily accessable aiport is Guwahati which is directly connected to Delhi,Calcutta,Bangalore.Almost all the airlines fly from Delhi.It's maximimum three hous drive from Guwahati aiport where you can get taxis on shared and individual basis.or else if you stop in guwahati you will get from Paltan bazar as well. Nature is at its best in shillong with misty cloudy weather everywhere.The roads are clean.The people are warm and hospitable.They speak and understand Hindi and English. One hour drive cherrapunji..the wettest place on earth is where you can get the feel..that you are walking with the clouds.The beauty of Meghalaya is short of words.You need to visit it to experience and relish its beauty.
