Degree Vs Work
by Loknath on Oct 31, 2006 11:24 AM

As the adage goes... Lakshmi and Saraswati don't mix and its been true always. Financial success and education are mutually exclusive. Education lends knowledge, experience lends wisdom. To quote einstein again.."The most intelligent person on this earth is a slave of a defunct economist.. to modify it a bit. the most intelligent person on earth is a victim of a cruel (not so intelligent) master. Chanakya knew this well and hence he chose to engineer a kingdom but never became the ruler himself. Philosophically looking at it, a person of limited knowledge and good work experience is able to put what ever he has to good use and hence make his millions.. but a person with too many degrees spends his entire life analysing the options that were taught to him and ends up being only poorer. It took 30 years for Dhirubhai to create country's most enviable empire, and his wharton educated sons took less than 2 years to tear it apart. whatever wisdom they have is inherited and not cultivated the hard way.
