We 3 friends were meeting together after nearly 7 years and decided to visit someplace away from Delhi's hustle-bustle and spend some quality time together.
We took overnight deluxe bus to Rishikesh - 250 kms Then a GMOU- Garhwal Mountain Operators Union mini-bus to Joshimath - 350 Kms starting at 5 AM. This seemed a ardous 12 hrs journey in the begining, but seemed enjoyable as the day wentby.
We passed thru the Gopeshwar, Rudraprayag, karnprayag, River Bhagirathi in all its force, Gaumukh - supposedly where the Ganges originates, Kedarnath, etc...
The people seemed friendly and food was good. Aloo, Gobi,paneer paranthas seemed the most common cuisine.
We reached Joshimath in the evning arnd 5 PM and checked into Kamet lodge. It is a 1 star wooden lodge on the upper mall, but, very clean and has all amenities. We went out for some Veg. food in the evening.
Next morning we went to Auli, which is 5 kms uphill and the only Winter-ski resort in UP, its run by GMVN. Its quite beautiful and has swiss cottages.
Next morning we trekked all the way to Kuari peak, about 5000 ft. above sealevel. this is a 3 day trek and is really beautiful.
