Most schools need a GRE general test score and a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score for application purposes. The site: www.ets.org should have more information. If you know a university that is highly ranked in Genetics, you can go to their website and find out more from existing students in their program. If you have publications in your area of interest, finding the correct faculty/professor is easier. The university website will send you an application package if you ask them for it. So, first select about 5 universities that are of interest based on your research interest, location, cost of living etc. At the same time, study for your GRE. Complete the application around December if you want to apply for the next 'Fall' (August-September of the next year).
