I beg to differ from your view of learning for the GRE. This process requires ages to master the sea of words in English,which might go on for a year or so.
In my opinion, cramming new words and repeated rote along with reading the Times of India, (where innumerable GRE test worthy words are used) is more practical task that can be completed in 4-6 months.
