Living alone & survivor rules
by K.Pandu Ranga rao on Oct 26, 2005 09:56 AM

Dear Editor,

I work for National insurance Company Ltd for the last 30 years and I was deputed to our Hong kong branch. I am now at Hong kong alone for the last 3 years. initially it has been tough time not only to live alone here but to stay away from family. But I have realised that living alone is an excellent opportunity to improve the confidence to face the world. Living alone at Hong Kong is particularly a challenge as it is prohibitively costly to engage the domestic helper. It is essential that I learn to do everything myself. Moreover being vegetarian I have to face more problems. But gradually I developed the determination and courage to lead a comfortable life. My advice to any one living alone is not to feel despair. it is absolutely possible for any one to learn the basic duties required like cooking & cleaning at home. Initially one is bound to err but over the period we learn and may excel. it is easy to accopmplish the tasks if we enjoy doing it. If we realise that with the kind of exposure we get with our life like this we can face any situation in life.
