Immigration intent?

I notice that a lot of your answers speak about proving that the candidate intends to come back.
What if I honestly say that I would like to work in US for a few years to repay my student loan, and then intend to come back?
Is accepting the intent to stay on in the US either temporarily or permanently, a very negative thing?
Does this affect the chances for getting the visa very adversely?
