doubt on choosing a ELSS mf

Hi Sir/Madam, I have read alot about investment and mutual funds and also finally decided to invest in ELSS, However I had two doubts. First one. Which ELSS fund to choose, the one which is currently performing very good like SBI, HDFC, Pru ICICI or should I see funds from Franklin, fiedility. The reason for the doubt was, SBI, HDFC's funds are running high, so there probability of rising seems to compartively less than the franklin and fiedlility. AM I correct?
Second. The tax benefits which I get in the ELSS, can I get the similar benefit other mutual fund schemes.
