What made you think that Rohan would be earning less than 10000 in the second year in the call center industry ?? The BPO industry is the fastest growing industry in India (25-30%) moreover the salary growth is also better than any other industry. Call centers utilizes the soft skills acquired by doing a diploma in Hotel Management like politeness when dealing with a customer, be patient, have an caring attitude etc etc. all these skills are also necessary in the BPO industry. Many hotel management people with years of experience are leaving the hotel industry and joining the Banking & BPO industry as they provide better growth oppurtunities, career prospect, culture and remuneration. So its wrong to say that Rohan will do well in the hotel industry only bcoz he has a diploma in hotel mgmt. infact the skills acquired will be utilized through out his life, whichever industry he prefers to work in. My request is not to discourage young people from trying out new industries as they provide better name, fame and money.
