Call centres are not that attractive..
by bharat jhurani on Jul 07, 2005 03:41 PM

Call centres really are painful, the ppl get paid a measly salary( may be high, but v r wkng night hrs, boss...)... On the whole it saps us of complete energy, and that too while wkng as a 'cheap labour' 4 the foreigners. It is similar to the case, where a contracter hires cheap labour from neighbouring villages, rather than ppl from the city available, just to save a few bucks.

Also it demoralises us in that, we work as slaves 4 people abroad, and in return get hurled with abuses and little growth oppurtunities...

Ofcourse, those who have no other means of livelihood, and are not eligible 4 the proffesional jobs have no option. What pains is the lackadaisical attitude of the profffesional youth( read Engineers) goin in 4 such jobs just to make fats buck... temporarily.

Also note that many companies, and B-Schools, do not regard call centre experience to have met their eligibility criteria.. So literally v r wasting few years in our life adding nothin to our resume....
