The joys and sorrows of teaching
by Rashmi on Jan 13, 2005 10:51 PM

I'm a teacher. I teach English to children in the age group of 7 and 10 years. Though I would like to say that you get the satisfaction of being instrumental in shaping the lives of many kids.
The teaching profession has lost all the respect it once commanded. The teachers are absolutely powerless when it comes to disciplining children. This is because of the wrong values that have been imbibed into them by parents. The teachers have lost their dignity they once had.
For the effort that they put in the are very poorly paid. It is really sad for teachers in Central Schools where teachers don't get the weekend off which they so badly deserve.
I strongly discourge all those who have intentions of joining the teaching profession .....if they are really keen then it would be better if they worked OUTSIDE India where a teacher is respected and valued for what they do.
