Agreed what you say about the celebs and also that The Da Vinci Code is never going to win the Booker, but it has everything a thriller needs and that is what it is supposed to be. And in my honest opinion, a book that keeps a reader engrossed is far better than that which only the critics admire.
Hence I suggest that you keep your opinions about bad writings to yourself and let the readers decide what is good and what not.
