Truly this subject needs a lot of thinking upon. As you will see from figures, the US and Europe together produce only 170000 engineers annually, we produce more than double but what are they doing? Take into consideration the fact that engineering developments are more visible in those countries which are actually producing less engineers ! Are our engineers being utilised to their supposed capabilities? In fact software houses have been known to rate just around 20% of these engineers as acceptable. Japan has the highest engineer ratio but that also reflects on the research and innovations that come up from them.
