How Good are Indian Engineers
by Rambabu Potluri on Dec 09, 2004 03:42 PM

What we produce are 'screw driver technology'engineers. We cannot manufacture our own TV's,music systems, refrigerator's leave alone scooters and cars.A piddily size country like South Korea teaches us how to manufature all the above!!!
Our engineers are clerical cadre quality which we refuse to accept.
For 50 years we have been driving Ambassador and Fiat, what prevented us from producing better models and so is the case of Scooters, what the Italians gave us 50 years back we still continue to drive the same wihtout any innovations.
It was quiet amusing to see Bajaj Auto struggling to place the indicator lights and finally had to copy the Kinetic Honda scooter...embedded into the tail lamp or copy LML with slight modifications in shape...embedded into the body.
Our strengths have been pure sciences and hence we did not need any foriegn influence to be self sufficient either in food or space programmes,we have excelled in both these fields.
Long live the Indian Engineers...show your superiority in the IT industry...the industry of the mediocre!!!
