Sachin the great
by Arijit Biswas on Apr 24, 2008 12:12 PM

He has been criticized repeatedly for not winning matches abroad. Well one should understand how many matches India would have lost during his prime period had he not been around. Moreover in his tine there was no supporting players except an occasional azhar innings there was a sea of redundant player brough from stupid zonal selection choices. Just see how many matches Sachin has contributed towards winning once dravid and ganguly have come into the team and even more when sehwag, yuvraj, bhajji and the young lot have come into the team and you will realize the man's mettle. Cricket is a team game afer all. True he is not the best batsman all time(which by the way is Viv Richards) and also turned out to be a really lame unimaginative and non-managing captained(cant fault him for not trying, just didnt have it in him). But as a player you cannot fault him as he has shown in this Australia series. He is a champion and perhaps one of the greatest sportsman in the true sense that India or the world has ever seen.
Many Happy Returns of The Day.
You have brightened many a dull days of mine and millions of Indian lives.
May you live long and healthy and may we see you achieve your full potential.
Arijit
