Indians are not considered equal by the general Australian public (the ones who have never stepped outside their country to places like ours). Most kids end up thinking about India as a backward place full of salesmen or domestic maids, they actually believe we are their servants. I have seen aussie kids kick indians kids and yell with laughter while their aussie moms dont even bat an eyelid. The poor Indian kids do not hit back or even if they did, their parents dont allow that. These aussie kids go on to their adult life enriching themselves on these experiences. There is a definite touch of racism about how they deal with you. Mind you, the words may not be racist but their actions are. If you have ever had a chance to go out and work for an extended period on foreign shores, you will notice that you have to work your ass off and earn their grudging respect before they consider you their equal, even if you are better than them in their job. Gandhian values are good against them provided you are ready to face extreme difficulties and are extremely unselfish. You might finally get them around to see them your point of view by the time 60 years old. or you can get your kid to fight fire with fire and earn that respect / superiority / self esteem (call it what you will). The Indian team is facing this situation right now. Either they can lodge protest and fight till the end or give way to diplomacy which allows one team to go away with murder.
