I watched the entire match and I feel the adverse reaction of both the Australian and Indian people and the media to the Australian team's behavior is justified. It was clear to see that Ricky Ponting wanted to equal Steve Waugh's record at all cost. Each and every incident which has become a controversy from this test match shows to what levels Ponting and his men stooped to. They may try to justify their reactions and mentioning playing it the right way, but if you were a spectator who watched their behavior on field and the arrogance to intimidate the umpire subtely to give decisions in their favour during the Sydney test will definitely have a different view of the team. Being a big supporter of the Australian team, I do have to admit I am ashamed of the way they went about the game with utter disrespect for fair play and insult to the opposition. They have undone all the good of their past with this performance. It will be very hard for me to support this team again unless they mend their ways. Ponting may claim he has equalled Waugh and may brag about it, but the truth is all to see. He did not win it the way the people of Australia would have wanted so that they could be proud and recognize it as a great accomplishment. Even recognizing it brings a bad taste to it. The arrogance of Ponting to appeal for a catch that he grounded and Stuart Clarke to claim to take a catch that he grassed was there for all to see. Anybody who played cricket will know immediat
