how come ICC cannot allow the intervention of the 3rd umpire when the field umpire overlooks a noball when the batsman is ruled out?
Similarly, the third umpire can intervene for stumping chances, and catches for grassing regardless of whether the third umpire has been called upon to pass judgement but wait! if the 3rd umpire is a home umpire who ruled symonds not out in spite of all evidence to the contrary, then it is time that the 3rd umpire be a socalled neutral entity. we could have 3 umpires officiate over 5 days thru rotation thereby giving much needed rest to those standing for 2hrs each session all day under the sun. just as Imran Khan was a visionary when he asked for neutral umpires during a Pak-WI (not too sure) series circa 86, we need visionaries to take things forward - a meld of bold but far-reaching decisions coupled with the careful and judicious use of technology but alas! ICC has no such men...
