CRICKET legend Glenn McGrath expressed surprise and disappointment at India captain Anil Kumble's questioning of Australia's integrity in the controversy-plagued second Test.
Both Ricky Ponting's character and Australia's sportsmanship were questioned during an explosive post match press conference at the SCG on Sunday after the home team's dramatic last-gasp victory.
Asked for his reaction to Kumble's comment that "only one team was playing in the spirit of the game", McGrath said he was a little bit surprised.
"I always got on really on with Anil and he's a great guy, very reserved. I find it quite surprising that he would come out and say that.
"It's probably a little bit disappointing from an Australian point of view, because I know the way the boys play.
"I've got total respect for every guy that pulls on the baggy green cap and walked out there. I think the Australians play it hard and we play it fair."
Asked if Ponting had any need to defend his integrity, which was called into question by an Indian journalist at the post-match press conference McGrath said, "definitely not" and cited the captain's attitude over not claiming a potential catch.
"I think if they want to look at his integrity, you only have to look at that first innings, that was a catch he
