I feel that Dravid WAS and IS NOT a good test batsman. His double century in the last tour of Australia (2003-04) was really fantastic and helped the team win.
Eversince Dravid became captain, he has been weighed down by various factors.
The kind of scratchy and useless innings he played in some of the tests like the third test in England on last tour, almost all tests in the last tour of SA and Australia (although people may praise his 93 at Perth) and even the century he made in the recent Chennai test are totally not in tune with the class and caliber of Dravid that we have thought and heard of.
I think he will be respected much more, be much more useful to the team and help the cause of the team, if he can undergo a crash course in POSITIVE THINKING and LETS GO OF THE PAST, ESPECIALLY WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HIM IN THE LAST 5-6 YEARS.
It is difficult to belive that a player of the caliber of Dravid cannot appreciate match situations, pitch conditions and play in the best interests of the team in a positive manner.
No one including me expects him to play in an explosive way and have a strike rate of 90-100 in test matches. The least that is expected of him is placing and timing his shots in such a way as to rotate strike and have a strike rate of atleast 50-55.
Sooner he realises this, better it is for him and the team.
