As far as Indian cricket is concern today 24th Sept 2007 will definitely be one of the happiest day.For people like me who were too young to remember the 1983 world cup-this is truly a memorable day.Although it will not wash away the disappointment of early exit in the World Cup,it will definitely ease the pain of the loss which Indian cricket lovers felt.
Dhoni as shown that although the big guns-Sachin, Saurav and Dravid were missing, he still had the confidence and the strength of character to pull-off an almost impossible victory.The performance of this Indian team was consistently good throughout the tournament. The best part was that we were able to beat Austrailia who were playing a full-strength team.This will most certainly be a huge morale-boost for the ODI series against the Aussies. It was a joy and pleasure to watch so many youngsters from remote corners of the country, play cricket at the international level and do extremely well.Full marks to Dhoni for having the faith and confidence in these youngsters. It was a great finish to a magnificent tournament.It gives hope to us cricket lovers that Indian Cricket is taking a turn for the better and we as a nation can once again be proud of our boys in blue.Lets hope that petty politics doesn't undo all the good work that has been done.
Afterall there is no other occasion which sends the entire nation irrespective of language, religion or social status into such rapturous delight,as this.Its incomparable!!!
