Such first generation Indians, those who emigrated to the states in the 60s were typically the first batch of IITians...the first wave as we call it.... Such people are green card holders and are now referred to as Indo Americans.....
Why do they still have green card? Haven't they become US citizens?
And for the record all indians who have lived for decades can be called indo-americans.
