this is for the original poster and not all the flaming that is going on in the middle.
to understand the indian mentality, you need to be an indian. the passion and craze for cricket over here is irrational. also, i would put some blame on the media. these ppl who resort to acts like riots, burning, stoning, etc..are doing it more and more today because it gives them their 15 seconds of fame. that is one reason there.
another reason is that indians are horribly emotional. they'll either make or break the team/player. do understand that cricket is the only source of relieving stress for many, so when they feel let down, they act in such a manner.
