The basic difference between Dravid and Ganguly is that ganguly was always charged up to face any opponent in the world and this mood was percolated down to all members of the team. Also he made it clear to all playing members/selectors that only peformance counts and backed the new players because of his proximity to then Indian board officils (read Mr.Dalmia)and he used it to leverage maximum for the benefits of Indian cricket.This authority was not acceptable to chappel and ganguly was not in his scheme of things. Dravid was acceptable to Chappel and other selectors / officials were also comfortable with him. But this has taken India to pre ganguly era when India also play and sometimes win.
we certainly need a very dynamic leader to lead from the front.
