How to make India into a world-beating team
by Suresh Devarao Koondaje on Nov 01, 2006 10:54 AM

This problem can be solved by breakingit into several smaller problems, and tackle each one separately.I would categorise them as follows: 1. First 5 batting order;2. Hard hitters thereafter;3.Bowling strengths; 4. Fielding; 5. Runouts; 6. Etc.7. Have a good pool of about 24 players. Don\\\\\\\'t slam Greg Chappell: he is excellent. If our players do not perform, Chappell is not to blame. I would leave I would leave 1,3,4,6&7 to Greg and the team management. Re.2, our players need to learn to hit the ball hard, and send sixers . For this, one should follow Navjot Singh, and practise slamming at least 50+ sixers every day.5. This aspect is sadly neglected by our team. Here too, our players should practise this aspect every day for at last 1-2 hrs. aiming at one wicket first, and get at least 2 runouts in every match. Rest of aspects can be taken care of by Greg, Rahul , Sachin, etc. If we can follow the above as well as possible, we can make mince-meat of any opposing team - incl. Australia.
But this will have to be conveyd to our Indian think-tank.
