The conspiracy of silence about Tendulkar's performance
by Rupnarayan Bose on Nov 30, 2006 07:14 AM

Team India will continue to perform badly as long as it lacks the guts to drop non-performers, keeps selecting players based on past glory and not on current form. The day they drop Tendulkar and ask him to regain his form in domestic cricket (not in international arena at the cost of India) before being reconsidered for inclusion, will be the day team India turn the corner. Further, there is an urgent need for change of attitude. Team India MUST know when to graft, when to build an innings (look at Gibbs), aim to last 50 overs, and not be in a hurry to catch the next flight out.

I am amazed at this conspiracy of silence about Tendulkar. We discuss Sewag, Pathan, Kaif and every one in the team. BUT, why is it that absolutely no one in the media, including Prem, ever talks about the lack of form of Tendulkar, about the damage that he is doing to the team by occupying a slot uselessly (and the demoralising effect that his inclusion has on the performers), or about dropping him?
Why is everyone - the commentators, the mediamen, the journalists, the selectors - so scared to talk about Tendulkar's failures, or about replacing him? WHY?????
