Many of us don't know that he dropped his engineering course when he got selected in NDA. He was with us in NSS college of engineering palakkad kerala , but left without completing the first year.Joining army was his passion. whatever be the weather condition we can see that harshan would be going towards basket ball court for his daily practice. He stayed at Raghava Varma Cottage , a private lodge near to the college.

Dear Friends, Let us salute Captain Harshan for his sacrifice for all of us. Harshan crossed all barriers and became a star forever. Govt. of India has done right thing by awarding him highested honour for any Indian citizen that is Ashoka Chakra. Like him I also tried to join Satara Sanik school and NDA but failed to get chance. The spirit of serving this country, could not be materialised as fighter pilot, but as Technocrat it will never die. People like Harshan are inspring force for all of us. I frankly admit that while reading this article I could not resist my tears rolling down. Thanks for rediff for reminding all of us about our duty to nation. I feel, like Army people, civilians also have enemies in the form of caste discrimination, corruption, communalism, regionalism etc. Hope to see Ashok Chakra to civilains who will succesfully kill these enemies.
I have the same spirits i tried for six times at army for lieutenant.. but they did not find me good for army.... i don't like army officers for that... they destroyed my dreams....

Dude, it's Ok to have been rejected. Maybe, you are meant for something else. But that is no reason to dislike Army officers. There are many people out there who have lost an Army officer and you are saying that you don't like people who have sacrificed or are ready to sacrifice their lives for this country.
This is Sunday early morning when I read the heroics of Harshan, the youngest Ashok Chakra winner. I feel elevated. While I sympathise with the parents,Harshan's heroism is inspiring and needs to be highlighted so that more youngsters would be inspired to take up the noble task of defending the country
