Everybody laughed at us...
by Kart on Apr 01, 2007 02:35 PM  Permalink

Did anyone watch yesterday's pre-match analysis.Everybody started laughing when they heard the news that Ganguly received warm welcome. They were laughing at India saying that people are not united and unless there is no feeling for the country we cannot win any major tournaments.
Even Mandira Bedi laughed at our thinking.Accepted that all kolkatans like Ganguly, but please don't do such things that any outsider starts making fun of our country.

Bangladesh performance
by wibas wibas on Apr 01, 2007 11:25 AM  Permalink

I don't know about the exhibition match between BD and NZ. But India lost of Bangladesh because of its own problem, not because they played well. These are the reasons.
1. Sachin, Utthappa, Dravid, Sehwag none of them are in right form.
2. Bad start - Ganguly, Utthappa opening pair wasn't good in any of the matches. Immediately after Utthappa, Sehwag also went out. Surprising thing is Sachin felt too much pressure at that instance.
3. With all the top order failing, Dravid should play anchor innings, but he is not Kapil to get 175.
4. Bad bowling - Indian bowling even for a brief moment didn't make it feel that India had chances to win the game.

This loss atleast should bring about the drastic changes in the team. Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Gambhir could've batted well in the crucial match.

Accept the truth India, accept the truth.

Accept the truth India, accept the truth.
The more you are away from truth the more you will do disservice to the nation.
Bring the talented and the best available in every sphere of life.
Think about India as a whole.
Saurav should be made the captain for atleast two years.
A talented younger crickter, intelligent and spirited should be groomed as vice captain now and to become captain in future.
Sreesanth appears to be a good successor at least from body language it seems so.
Dravid does not have it in him.
Even if you hand over the entire Australian team to him and make him Captain, he will start losing matches after a few games while carrying on experiments and chasing after imaginary enemies in the team and creating confusion in the process.
He is never never the Captain material.
If he is still kept Captain, India will lose all the future tournaments.

What more is good caoch but bangaldesh?
by Ravi K on Mar 31, 2007 09:23 PM  Permalink

Whatmore is a good coach. He has transformed Sri Lanka to Champions status in 1996. I don't think he can repeat this kind of success with Bangladesh. Soon in a few years Bangla players start following what pakistani players are doing - growing beard and become muslim fanatics.
Bangladesh at the most can win 2 matches in super 8 stage - probably beat Ireland and West Indies or England. If rain affected matches come into picture bangla may benefit.

Now it may not be the case anymore. They have their own players who have gained fame.
And moreover in Bangladesh it is considered serious crime if anyone is a fan of non muslim.

one muslim player was made captain of indian cricket team. Do you remember Azhar uddin? Azhar was an excellent field and a great player. How many hindu players can be captain of bangladesh or Pakistani cricket team?
Now India got a muslim president and he a talented scientist.

Wasim Karim,
Never compare India with such fanatic Islamic countries.

What else 'WHATMORE'
by sree on Mar 31, 2007 02:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I had very close association with Whatmore during his coaching tenure in Srilanka. He wanted to tune (not coach) Indian team but was not given a chance by some politicians and players(do not wish to mention their names here)to satisfy their EGO. I guess him mentioning in the inner circles that he would (re)prove his capabilities to BCCI. YES, he did it now. What else we need from him. I am an Indian and love my country and teamindia more than anybody.

now india may fall back on indian coach.
India should respect Coach's view. Had they lsiten to Greg Chappel India would have done played well.

I disagree with you...Chappel is a joke as a coach...he's the biggest champu...who single handed destroyed team Indian in 22months. It is because of his "experiments" that we lost

I don't think that he's the coach that we expected...before came long ICC had rated Indian as 2nd best team and now that it is done with India it is at no 6...He has not stopped from players playing shots but he is defiantely not someone who has lead team India to WC2007 as he as "vision" but the fool forgot that just having a vision is not enough you also need an action plan

Where were hurdles in his actions plans. The senior players favored some players who were not a good fit for the team. Even Dilip Vengsarker expressed this view.
Another import factor is Indian team is not really a good competitor in overseas tours.
After 1985 Benson And Hedges world series only better perfomance india has played overseas was in WC 2003.
If major tournaments are held places other than Indian sub-continent then India does have good chance.
