I think, cricketers are given too much importance, after all they lost just cricket match, they are not soldiers, they have not lost any war !! i think, indians should better concentrate on other issues such as children education, employment, development of the country, there are so many indian students who dont have money to get good education, whether these cricket fans are ready to sponsor them, see there are so many unemployed youths who dont even get a job, think on it, friends !!

They are using the tax payers money to provide security services for the BCCI team? Why can't BCCI handle the same...remember BCCI had mentioned earlier that the team represents BCCI and not India..need to file a petition under RTI act to get the total money spent on this security..any one agreeing?

I agree. "BCCI had mentioned earlier that the team represents BCCI and not India" -- then Team India should be renamed as Team BCCI. Fixtures should be like this, Bangladesh vs BCCI, Sri Lanka vs BCCI etc etc. Yeh BCCI ke gadhe logonko abhi kick out karna chahiye!

common give them a break
by Akshay Deshpande on Mar 29, 2007 11:43 AM  Permalink

Its really disheartening to see the Indian team coming home without a fight. Just one bad day against Bangla and everything was gone. These are great players who have brought glory to India in the past and not worthy of such bad bad criticism. We are panicking again. What this debacle has brought positives is that now Indian cricket will be looked at in a diffrent and serious angle and hope fortunes will change. A structure of cricket like australia is necessary.

Cricket in India

We the indian public and the media made these cricketers the stars and now we want to treat them like the bandits/villain of the show. Why all these hype. They are also just humans like all of us. Leave them alone and just stay away from cricket and stay calm and live in the real world.

Ur absolutly right. The great part will be, we all people have to ban watching cricket, nobody must go to the stadiums to watch the cricket or nor on TV. Ultimatly the channel will take off there sponsership and no channel will show cricket.

what u said is very true provided these players r not paid the kind of money that they r. In a country where 35% of the population is still classified as BPL, such a nonsense cannot go on. If everyone goes as per ur advice no one would be held accountable. These cricketers would keep minting money at the cost of other games and also by playing with the emotions of their fans. so such comment r not welcome in this forum

I agree. Don't our sonns or daughter sometimes fail in exams. We give our love & sympathy to our kids when they do so.Our love & affection make them to come out of that. Same thing applies on crickets also. Why can't we be reasonable & balanced. Everyone has high & low in their lives.

you are right, but what after they fail very very badly , despite all the facillities like best coaching, years of experience, 3 world class batsman with nearly 10,000 runs under their belt, no tension about tax, salaries. ???

Bad performances can't be entertained even it may be one's own kid.

2 much Money
by Vikram on Mar 29, 2007 11:38 AM  Permalink

As now its very clear paying crores of rupees per annum to almost all players, BCCI has sent Indian cricketing game down the drain. Its only revenue from sponsers & ads that matter the most to both players and BCCI. No where any player or official is accountable for their poor show. And Indians were going crazy with cicket fever loosing even their lives just for sake of these business men rather than players.

I feel that all ads, sponsers should be done away with for atleast 3-4 years, get youngsters...maybe prepare U19 team and get the Indian cricket back on track or else it would also go the Indian Hockey way.
