KM has guts!
by Sameer on Mar 28, 2007 11:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope we have selectors like you in future who can take rational decisions rather than popular decisions. You have shown guts and if new selectors had courage they would have sticked with young people rather than going backwards.

People are always biased and they will keep blaming you. Just because Sehwag scored a century in WC doesn't justify why he was taken.

Ultimately current form and more importantly attitude should be taken into consideration. I feel supporting people like Sachin makes sense because you still see in him fire to perform and do his bit. But a very good player like Laxman or a Kumble is not ready to improve his fielding even after so much criticism is unpardonable.

And it was your bold decision that Ganguly and Zaheer are back into game.

i feel both are curropt.., whole indian taem is curropt.., both matches aginst srilanka.., and bangladesh wer fixed.., as the players earned 10% more than they would have earned by playing all matches so.., i feel.., none of the players have .. spirit of cricket.., nor any respect of counrty nor any sort of patriotism..
all the payers are selfish..
rather the cricket should be baneed for one yera.., or aplers should be banned those who palyed this years worldcup..

first try and write at least a single line with no spelling mistakes. then make such hefty claims about a sports team being corrupt!

he is the one who ruined our cricket team.first he created rift in the team by sacking Ganguly (At the time india was on top) and this shattered confidence of the team. Then started Chapell - Ganguly war of words. Dravid is a soft character and captaincy does not suit him. look for some young blood as captain ( like South africa) so that at least we will come forward in the couple of years

I support every word of it,Mr More is absolutely right,if we have to look forward rahul is the best option.sachin should be given rest and saurav should retire, then only we can look forward.

Mr Sumit, then whime to blame for this disaster? Mr. Chappel was given 18 months (1 n 1/2 years) is not a small period. Atleast some result would have shown. Most of the top orders were fixed as told by the match fixer itlsef. So there is no point of looking for reason to cover our failure.

In my personal view, all top orders should be kept out from Team 'A' and look for the new telent.

JAI HIND........

There has been a spate of comments here telling More&Greg destroyed the team with their experiments&that Dravid was arrogant.I find such views as bunkum.

Any team which wants to remain on top for a consistent period of time should have players who adapt to situations&are fit&agile.

If ppl say Irfan lost his bowling skills becos he came in at 3,Sehwag lost his form because he was moved up&down the order etc then it lacks logic.

By the same token Ganguly/Wright made Dravid do all kinds of things:Wicket keeping,opening,1 down,5 down, did he not adapt, did he not do it for team's interest?

As for the emphasis on youth which worked for an year&flopped in WI,Triseries,Champions trophy&SA,I still believe that is the way to go forward. There might be downs but we need to persist with them.

As for Ganguly, where is the fluency of yore?He along with Tendulkar are poor shadows of their old self.

As for Laxman,he is a big liability on the field which takes away whatever Batting skills he has.

I would recommend Rahul&Greg continuing as Coach/Captain,telling Ganguly&Sachin to retire or else drop them, drop Dhoni(He can play only on flat subcontinental batting tracks)&bring in Dinesh Karthick, drop Sehwag with a stern warning that he will be considered only when he is back in form&reduces his weight&tell yuvraj in no uncertain terms that he is no star&needs to achieve a lot.

Give Greg a free hand so that he will be professional&ruthless, then see what happens. But as long as we treat our players like demi gods, then these kinds of defeats are going to persist.

Even now there are clamours to make Ganguly a captain again.Such regionalism by the public/selectors will do more harm than good.

Will the BCCI&more importantly our cricket loving public learn a lesson?

You are absolutely right!

I might disagree a bit on Sachin front because i feel he still works hard which is visible in his fitness. When he was batting badly you could see him practising hard and taking advice from Sunny etc. But again he should take rest for 6 months and then decide!

@ ajay d:- have u ever heard a sayings ur result speaks of ur effort. all ur favorite greg chappal n RD's effort r showing fruitful(!!!) results in WC in WI and SA tour some months back. It was the resurgent ganguly n shresanth's heroics which salvaged some pride of India. But the intelligent(!!!) dravid n chappal dint even gave chance to shreesanth n continued with gali cricketer agarkar...

giving greg a free hand will make india @ par with bermuda, kenya, etc. chappal was on paid onsite job by cricket australia to ruin the indian team. plus he earned money frm bcci.

Some one should ask him to keep his big mouth shut ,because he is known for this .

He had even rattled Miandad with his big mouth ,so one can understand how the public might be feeling with his article .

who is to blame
by Siddharth Karkhanis on Mar 28, 2007 11:24 AM  Permalink

such a dismal effort from a world class team on paper cannot be justified in any manner possible
its a team game and no one person can be blamed
i guess the strategy followed by the australian county cricket should be followed if u perform u stay or u are out then let it be dhoni, viru, dravid or tendulkar
get the new guys in
improve the local sides
thats the only way it will work i guess
as of now each one of them is to be blamed
