We have lost 2007 world cup ,so what the big thing,we have lost in hockey ,football ,volley ball and so on.
who is to be blamed? it is us who elect these corrupt politicians.people are suffering in agriculture and shard pawar and lalu wants to play cricket.this is what happens when money is involved in sports.

Donot speak more
by sunilkumar mishra on Mar 28, 2007 11:42 AM  Permalink

Mr. More, more u speak on the subject wud drive u into zone of more discomfort as it wud indicate that u know somethings more than what u come out after having been the selectors for a long time. When u appear to pinpoint batting failure to be the cause of our debacle, whole Indian fan need to know the truth from u if u know as u appear to be. If not, who has the interest to know all the useless groping in the dark. better to wait till the manager and coach reports are out

Seriously ......Dont Blame the Coach
by Sunil DeSousa on Mar 28, 2007 11:41 AM  Permalink

Honestly, I feel the coach gives in more efforts than the players themselves. A Coach is a like a father to the family, he might be strict about certain things, but his focus is always about the secured future and betterment of his family. Greg Chapell has done half of his job, let him continue the other half. I feel the BCCI should be given a kick on it's a#$. The team members should have no authority for selecting it's members except for the coach.

Kiran More comments on the World cup 2007
by chintakunta raja sekhar on Mar 28, 2007 11:41 AM  Permalink

More,

Read your comments was to good.

As you said a player can not be made a Coach as it is a different ball game. How is that any Tom, Dick & Harry can become the Chairman?

The senior players must be given a chance for what getting paid more, do go with the statistics but also to see whether he is in form or Not?

There was Kumble ( a Senior player), Sreesanth & Dinesh Karthik young players on bench. why were'nt they given a chance agaist Bermuda? Was it for the senior players to make big scores and break records?

A Lame horse is Never taken to the War Field, They are SHOT.

Hope the the system is completly changed and players are selected as per their performance and paid as per that after signing the contracts and No Ads Please. Once I heard Dravid Quoting Its better to "Hay when Sun Shines". Thats what are players are doing signing up new brands after breaking records as he knows he can not be CONSISTENT?

but we lost to bangladesh because of Gauguly

he was very slow in scoring runs , running between the wicket.

even club level cricketer can play faster than him against bangladesh

playing for personal milestones
by Praveen C on Mar 28, 2007 11:40 AM  Permalink

As mark waugh said, sub-continental teams more or less play for personal milestones, statistics prove the same - Saurav,Sachin,Dravid - between them they have scored over 35000 runs and played over 900 ODIs, if u compare this against the team-indias average then you will know what i am talking about.
Until players dont feel they play for the nation and not for money alone we will have failures, professionalism works, we have seen how sachin slows down when he is approaching a 50 or a 100, putting behind the teams interests. Its SAD that the people dont read this and the media makes them heroes overnight.
I still remember how one of the channels covered Sehwags childhood when he hits a century or yuvraj hots a ton, we are shown as to where he had is forst jilebee, where he first played gully cricket and so on.
My question to the media - who are also paid to make them hereos by giving them extra coverage in their chanells, arent we all working hard, dont you think every professional wants to excell in what he/she does, then why do you give so much imoprtance to these professional, i think cricketers are the most overrated indians and also exhorbitantly over paid, and MEDIA isnt responsible anymore, media in the past had won us great wars by reporting real storys and won us the freedom some years ago its SAD that today i believe only 50% of what is reported!!!!!

If MORE was the best keeper India had then who were Engineer and Kirmani. Dont just talk through your hat. He is the politician from the cricketing world- will be an able successor to Sharad Powar. He is the main culprit for the debacle and should be banned from the country. He is a sycophant of the highest order without any backbone. 18 months long enough for him and Chappel to make the runners up to minnows. If he has little bit of self respect he should keep his gup shut rather than put his foot there.

Dravid as captain has the support of Kapildev, imran khan and gavaskar, gayekwad
About retaining Dravid as the captain, Kapil said: %u201CWhy are we forgetting that this is the same Rahul Dravid who led India to victory while chasing 17 matches in a row, setting a new record. Why did not anybody question his captaincy then?

"Rahul is 34 and you do not sack captains at 34 when they are peaking. I don't see any reason for a change because Dravid has not shown any sign of pressure. His batting has not faltered", he said.

Don't sack Rahul

The man who was sacked as coach after India%u2019s 1999 World Cup disappointment, calls for patience
The first thing to do now is to stick with Rahul Dravid as captain. He is a good leader and the best available option in the current circumstances. The other options could be Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh. http://mid-day.com/sports/international/2007/march/154192.htm

SUMAN - You are probably the only person in India who always blame Ganguly and talk about Dravid.

You are telling about Kapildev, imran khan and gavaskar, gayekwad. I too watch TV. You are fabricating their statement. When lots of Indian fans were asking Ganguly to be the captain for world cup, they said since world cup is near, let Rahul be the captain.

You do one think...do a survey all over India...be honest with you...donot fabricate the data...you will find 85% people will favou Ganguly...10 % for Dravid and probably 5% for Sachin.

Whatever you say...in any day GANGULY is fat better captan than DRAVID.

After 2003 when we were the second best team politics took the centrestage of Indian cricket.More,Chappel and Dravid were the main players. In came one of the most pro coach of the world and one of the best student of the game and they started experimenting on every issue. They converted Pathan into a batsman,Gave every Tom dick and harry the Indian cap and Finally when everything failed they left evret thing to the selectors resulting in loss of cohesion in Indian Cricket team,A fear among evetyone of uncertainity ,Outcome:-Dreams of millions of cricket fan of the country shattered in the first round itself.Dravid and chapell both should go

For SUMAN -

"Kapil said: Why are we forgetting that this is the same Rahul Dravid who led India to victory while chasing 17 matches in a row, setting a new record."

I have seen the same Kapil is saying in 'AAJTAAK' that Ganguly is a better captain than DRAVID.

Winning in India is not boon....see his overseas performance as captain.
