I think, Still Sourav Ganguly is better choice for taking reign of Team India.I agreet some younger player should be vice-captain, so, that he can learn from the experience and in future he can lead Team India.
This goes to show how easy it is to forget the past and the blunders done with impunity... Mongia has been one of the biggest nuisance in Indian cricket team. Liability on the team. I still believe Indian team was a good collection, they just dont have the right psychological make up. Cricket is a big time mind game. The team with tough psyche makes it often till the end. Like Sri Lanka did in 96. Well it can be a big debate but I still feel this team represents us, in a way how vulnerable we are to big expectations and psychological weakness instead of lack of talent or preparations.
We all know how Mongia use to perform whenhe was a member of the I-team. And now the same guy who once with Manoj Prabhkar gave away a match so that they could score hundreds is giving a sermon over the mount. How convinient of these guys to forget what they did during their days.
Selection Committee: Arjun Singh - to make sure every religion gets their share. Mulayam/Lallu - to make sure every Caste gets their share. Commies - to make sure West Bengal gets their share.

Gavaskar/Shastry - to abuse the Australian team and make everyone else mad.
Gavaskar/Shastry/Azhar/Kapil and many other ex-cricketers - Make deals with the bookies, so that even if India doesnt win anything, they pocket all the money.

Do u think u just told a joke? i dont know about the poticians u mentioned but the palyers u mentioned forget about coaching or PR dutes, they still fit into any palying elven.They are just scape goats in the name of match fixing which is un prven accusation. So shut the .... ..

Have u guys ever palyed at least club criket? if not, just be a ingnorent fan than asking me weather i am a bookie or not. I dont understand being played under 15 under 17 under 19 stae tournies how can one or tow palyer can fix the game.A criket game is win by 11 players and losse by 11 players. Any ways it is my ingnorence to think Indian fans are growned up... :-)
Nayan mongia, thanks for your in-depth analysis of Team India's failure in WC 2000. Looking from a distance its easy to criticise, but the main problem is that Indian team was never ever good enough, the media just hyped the whole thing. The Indian team deserves no criticism cos this is truly their worth. They are ranked No. 6 in the world, they have lost to the WI 7 times in the last one year, lost to SA 4 times, lost to Australia, Bangladesh etc. If we expected them to win this WC, the truth is that we were dreaming. Imagine, if media had told the public that Narain Karthikeyan would be F-1 champion in 2005, we would have laughed, right ? But Narain, Paes, Mirza, Dhanraj all have passion in their respective sports. Paes,Bhupathi and Dhanraj have achieved much more, but Tendulkar is still our hero, WHY???? is a question we must ourselves.
