let the non-performers retire
by pranav nadkarni on Mar 29, 2007 12:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

let anil kumble and sachin tendulkar go to their native places and sell nimbu pani.....especially kumble who has been a curse on aspiring spinners like RAMESH POWAR....sachin toh is beyond criticism....give the captaincy to sourav ganguly and let dravid be indias best batsmen....rest of the problems will solve themselves....

The way SA and Australian players are playing, soon Indian team will be like Indian hockey team, will play for qualifying to the qorld cup. If you see those teams, we are way behind in any sense, batting, fielding or bowling. They have shown that only due to good fielding the matches can be won and we have shown just the opposite, snatching defeats from the jaws of victory. The need of the hour is drastic changes otherwise soon it will be like Indian hockey. Once upon a time we won so many olympic golds...

Onething everyone of us constantly overlook is the fielding skills of our players.
Fielding always takes back seat! How can you expect great fielding from Sachin, Ganguly, Kumble and all when they all old and well past their prime?
Just look at the game between SA & AUS, both of them fielded very well. Compared to them we are a couple of centuries behind!
The only good fielder is Yuvi and not to mention his fielding skills are no better than last one of AUS. How pathetic is that?

So time to look at future and bring in young folks.

Blunders...
1. Excluding Raina, Kaif, Powar...
2. Including Sachin, Ganguly, Kumble, Bhajji, Patan

SA..has the most brittle batting line up..It will be xposed in a few days..Watch out. look at Pollock..He is beaten out..Sorry for SA... Regarding Powar as a bowler, there must be a LOT OF better Spinners in other places..He can not bent & pick up the ball. (I am sorry Powar..I should not be taling like this..But It is a fact).

very well said pranav, i feel that Ramesh Powar was a must in the team, everytime he played, he has performed. Sachin was pathetic to get out to two ordinary deliveries that too trying to defend.

I agree that powar should have been in the team. But why in the place of Kumble? Powar should have been in the team in the place of Harbhajan. Harbhajan is an overrated fool who should be kicked out.

I am great fan of Sachin atthe same time I felt very bad that he couldnt deliver his potential when it really matters ?
Mental Strenght is one thing that Indian team needed at this moment .
we have potential, but our players need mental strength, "Yes I will win this match ".
Our players should have this attitude that I will win this match.. perfect example, look atthe way Shewag got out, he was very setteled, he knows his team and cap need him to stay on the middle, and HE KNOWS THERE IS SLIP FOR THAT TYPE OF BALL. indeed he played that shot........

I think you better go sale nibbu pani to their house.
There is a limit of humiliation. Just imagine you were also player in the present team, when you are in the field would you like to losse to a team like Bangaladesh. It happened, I think none can be blamed, it was mere luck to Bangala. Just wait and watch How other teams will bang / tare Bangala.

It is upto the 10 players to support thier cap's descision at any time ... Only then we can bring world cup .........
But onething I cannot accept is with kumble's issue. You cannot have senior player in the crucial match , instaed that senior player should convince cap and coach that still he is great player(kumble fails to do that)

The responsibility should always go to the people at the top of the ladder
by S Anand on Mar 29, 2007 12:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Professionalism is about planning correctly, executing them with commitment and most importantly taking responsibilities. In any professional set up it is the people at the top who will be held responsible both for success and failures. The game has also become much more professional now than what it was in 70's and 80's. In that light, definitely the coach, captain and senior members of the team should shoulder the responsibility for the defeat. Vishy is saying that Dravid should not be blamed and it is batsmen who failed him. Some other articles say dont blame Chappel. Already many messages have come in glorifying past achievements of Sachin, Saurav, Kumble, Harbhajan and Sehwag. So coach is not at fqault, captain is not wrong, senior players are not wrong but all results are and when it comes to taking responsibility, there seems to be no one. I dont think my MD in office would accept it if a project fails and my manager says that Engineers failed him or keeps talking about all the successful projects he was involved in 4 years ago. Looks like the fact of the matter is that professionalism is sadly missing (not just lacking) from the set up and in a competitive environment no one has been known to survive without professionalism. That is exactly what we have seen with the Indian teamin this world cup, they approached the game with an un professional attitude and out they came in the first round itself. If they dont change their attitude, this sort of debacle wont be the last one we will witness and we will be in store for multitudes of such.

by Sudipto Ghosh on Mar 29, 2007 01:51 AM  Permalink
I completely agree with your comments like in any establishment the head or the person in charge like CEO of a company or Prime minister of a Government. One of the qualities of an honest leader is to take up the responsibity and in that way Dravid has been very honest.
If some one is not willing to take up the responsibilty he should not be taking up the post.
That does not mean that other players should not take up responsibilty for their own actions.

One of the major concerns and reasons for the failure of the Indian batting was the unstability at the top with Sehwag being out of form and not being reliable at all. That put a lot of pressure (also from the think tank) on Ganguly to play the anchoring role and not play his natural game.
If at least one of the openers had clicked in the game against Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, India would have been in the super 8 now.

1)Kick out tendulkar out of one day team

3)Chappel Kho gaaliya mat dho..Woh kisi khi bhaayi baap hai..Us kho Chappal se maar kar bhagao
4)Make either Mohinder amarnath or Sandip Patil as the coach.

responses to your feedback
1. hmm let BCCI give one more chance that he should prove in crunch situation
2. Absolutely rite that Yuvi should cap our team, that he is the senior player who can take team another 2 worldcups.(Rahul Dravid should support him)
3. Sandip patil
5. Kiran mmore is no longer in the commitee( this one point i dont agree cas what we have now is the greatest team )
6. Kick Ganguly out immedialetly

ok..But dude, sachin has repeatedly let us down many times in recent matches. The pain is that he has got out in world cup to two very ordinary deliveries trying to defend..gosh!1he has lost his footwork it seems..He should gracefully retire

If sachin , then for sure he should open ... thats the only best place he can and he will
Rahul Dravid should come at No 3, he is apt player to play in that postion . Like Kallis,Jaywardhana.. etc. our Rahul Dravid should come at no 3 and yuvi (captain should come)

tendulkar is struggling to play at 2 down, he has lost his footwork against fast bowlers, then how can he play the new ball against top class speedsters like Bond, Tait, Lee, Bracken, Ntini and others if he cant play the likes of Fernando, Mortaza and other ordinary players??The truth hurts and the truth is that Sachin looks all out of sorts against fast bowling..Period

Bad luck
by M Alem on Mar 29, 2007 12:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's pure bad luck that India is out of the tournament. BD came to tournament knowing that they have to win one big match. Unfortunately India became the victim since Indian players are always Mr. Nice Guy; especially to BD. Indian players just could not hate BD enough to obliterate them. They will crush BD when they meet them in May. The format of the first round was unfair to big teams. You lose one game and you are out. One critical loss and India was out.

well said..i was trembling with rage especially at Mortaza who made disparaging comments about our team..We will thrash them at home, no doubt, some records will be created but will that ease the pain??
Sack non performers like sachin and others first and build the team around top class players and future players like Yuvraj, Kaif, Raina, Karthik and others

dinesh kartick captaincy material????
by abhi on Mar 29, 2007 12:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

poor guy has not played even 10 matches for india and is touted as captaincy material!!! Likes of Rajan Madrasi Bala playing regional politics at the same time talking about Chappell bashing Yuvraj as Yuvy is a contender for captaincy!!!!

India cricket is going to the dogs. rogues have taken over who are playing dirty politics. It will take only a legend like Tendulkar to bring Indian cricket out of this mess.

Future of Indian Team
by sujit bera on Mar 29, 2007 12:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well, people need to see a change. Coach and Captain should be held responsible for the mess. Well they get the credit when we win, so why not take the credit for losing and let others give the chance. If you don't replace coach and captain, BCCI will set an example for others that that mistakes can be forgiven without any penalty. Rahul acknowledged his mistake about the toss on India-Bangla match and we had to suffer. Now somebody has to suffer for their mistakes, we did beleiving on them for a better cricket!!! What you think?
