RE:captaincy myth
by Uttamkumar on Mar 29, 2007 09:56 AM  Permalink

Suman Bhat is really a "chud-fellow".
He is nothing but IDIOT always portrays Dravid irrespective of his boneless and slave character.
Hay man, understand, Dravid is just a JUNK.
Gracefully he should resign,
otherwise be sacked.

Why always coach and captain are blamed..
by Kart on Mar 29, 2007 09:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is to everybody a captain cannot go and teach Tendulkar and Ganguly how to bat he cannot teach the bowlers to bowl.I was surprised to hear the news when Indian team management told they had asked Ganguly to up the run rate. The guy who has played 280 odi should know that the run rate is less he has to increase the run rate.Whoever may be the captain and if the batsman did not perform captain cannot do anything.

The striking attitude again - live on laurels!
by karthik on Mar 29, 2007 08:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In all these interviews w/ ex-cricketers, 2 common themes are very prevalent:
1. Don't blame X or Y. This was a collective failure.
2. Bring up contributions and legacy performances of X or Y and crap about experience, notwithstanding the current form X or Y has shown leading upto the WC.

I'm especially pained seeing that this elite panel of cricketers still talk only about past laurels and not consider meritocracy.

Thats pretty simple to understand why all the past cricketers talk like this. In the not too distant past they too had performed in the same fashion. If you go strictly by records you will see that no past cricketer has played a back to back epic innings. They had one great innings and then stayed on in the team going through the lows only to bounce back when they knew that their positon was under threat. So it is unrealistic to expect any better statements other than these.

About consolation messages
by paramasivan sivakumar on Mar 29, 2007 07:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have been reading several colums written by former cricketer about Indian exit from WORLD CUP. In all the colums barring a few, the message is clear. WHY SHOULD WE DISOWN OUR KIDS WHEN THEY FAIL. Is it a right way to justify our failure? No doubt, these players achieved a lot in the last decade, but a closer look reveals that they DID IT FOR THEMSELVES. Many occasions such performances helped themselves to be in the team BUT NOT TO WIN MATCHES. Especially in crucial ties, their inability was being exposed and their attitutde was taken a beat. We Indian Cricket fans, DOES NOT WANT EVERY INDIVIDUAL PLAYER TO MAKE RECORDS, BUT WE NEED THEM TO PLAY AS A TEAM AND WIN TOURNAMENTS IN INDIA. ThESE PLAYERS ARE NO KIDS TO US, SINCE THEY ARE OVERPAID FOR THEIR ACHIVEMENTS. They are simply the employees of BCCI and inditectly of ours (since we pay for their advertisement performances). Every Indian has a right to criticise when they fail. These players definitely deserves a punishment may be in the form of removal from team or retirement.

Absolute nonsense! They get paid in huge sums. They are no kids. In fact some of these senior kids have long stopped playing, their staying in the team is a work of the syndicate who sign them for multi-crore deals. They have absolutely no desire or passion to play, except for these commercial considerations, why not, when the BCCI president endorses their ambitions.
