yes u pick performance of any player whom we say were misguided by coach or dravid.Dravid gave opportunity to everyone and they were to perform.Dravid is not supposed to handle their bat on the pitch to go for runs--ganguly the tiger failed--see his average;tendulkar dhoni yuvraj sehwag were totally incosistent--no room for anybody to get out against Lanka--they did not see the ball and got bold, run out.earlier in Lanka inning whosoever tried to hook ball was out--jayasurya sangakara--so lesson was already there for utthappa ganguly--there was no panick at all--then why they got out in such a childish way--DRAVID--a wall but it does require perfect masons material--se what happened--all masons fled and no perfect binding mterial--new Captain--yuvraj sachin ganguly--my foot for their irresponsible play. reg fresh players there ia politics by rajivshukla vengsarkar pawar and others--so u cannot expect allrounders like Gaurav Dhiman of Karnatka,Chawla of UP to get entry--u can go thro their under 19 WC--lalitkumar

yes gangoooooooooly wanted dravid, chappel and india to perform badly and be out of WC. uthappa was overwhelmed by the money he is getting. sehwag played selfishly and wanted to become highesrt score. 10 dulcar was thinking if 2011 WC. yuv was under enormous pressure. other agarcar, bhajji was just having fun. - no pure reason to play for india

Good Batsman my foot. Dravid is a good batsman as far as test matches are concenred. He does not have the ability to perform in one day cricket. If Dravid was out instead of Yuvraj, India still had a chance. This implies that excepting Dravid, if any one from sehwag, ganguly, tendulkar, youvraj, dhoni play then India has a chance. But with only Dravid and tailenders there is no hope. Forget captaincy he does not have the ability to win matches on his own like other players. He does not have the confidence in himself. If he had the confidence then he would have tried till the end and not threw away his wicket.
Or Dravid let batsmen down? In the Chappell-Dravid team, no one knows his position in the batting-lineup; no one is sure whether he would be there in the next match or not, no one has any guidance in terms of his career. Everyone plays for his own record. Coach and captain gives an impression that they only are the custodian of the team's overall strategy and does not bother to take other's views. As a result we do not get any game plan carried out by the team as a whole and the team looses. If Dravid and Chappell are not to be blamed for such directionlessness in the team, then who should be? As they kept all the control in their own hands, they will also have to take the full responsibility.

I think you attend the meetings with the team to know all this. Stop talking crap.

One does not need to attend team-meetings. The body language of the players, the way they play and the way their talent is wasted (like Irfan, Dhoni) shows all about it - all you need to do is observe.

Blaming Chappell and Dravid is oversimplified and has no merit. u ask who else is to be blamed? The whole batting order failed! even if they don't make dynamic decisions, u'll say that the coach and captain are powerless chickens!
RE:Batsmen let Dravid down??
by Biswajit Ghoshal on Mar 28, 2007 02:27 PM Permalink
Why did the batting order fail? Because no one was sure whether he would play next day or if yes, of his place of batting, because of unstoppable experimentations. Why those experimentations was not stopped by Dravid? What was the final outcome of such experimentations? Loosing to a team like Bangladesh and getting out at the first-round. What was the use of high-paying coach like Chappel? Destruction of the whole team-spirit. In contrast watch Tom Moddy and Dev Whatmore. They are much better coaches than Chappell. Why didn't Chappell coach Dravid too on captainship and decision making? May be he himself doesn't have it.

anybody heard shane watson complaining that his batting position is not fixed. guy goes out whenever his captain sends him & hammers the opposition bowlers. why are our batsmen afraid to go out at any position & give their best. why do they need guarantee that they would open, or go one down or even be in the team at all. look at australia, their team is most uncertain. there are so many fringe players. if michael johnson gets an opportunity in one out of five matches, he will try to give his best & not cry as to his non-selection in the other four. we want to fix up everything before the match itself & then cry that the captain is not innovative.

I think jayant has said it perfectly. Biswajit, you are an idiot. What the hell are you talking about experiments and players not knowing if they are gonna play or not? These batsmen get crap load of money to play, period. Not just play as openers or one down or two down. They should play whenever they are called upon. Not to mention, different situations require for different batting lineups. Like it's 40 overs and you jus need to hammer in the last 10 overs, would you send dravid or send in tendulkar or dhoni or yuvi? Different situations require different lineups. I don't never hear batsmen from Australia or South Africa complain when they are demoted or promoted in the batting lineup, because they are hungry and humble for the opportunity. Something our overprivelleged, overhyped, overly confident of their position in the team due to their senority, players wouldn't know anything about.

Such irresponsible and stupid thoughts and messages are floating around freely since rediff is encouraging these morons .. Regional bias is more with people like u, Mr.Ghoshal ..
RE:Batsmen let Dravid down??
by Biswajit Ghoshal on Mar 28, 2007 02:31 PM Permalink
Also - if a regional bias takes India to the WC-final in 2003, and the lack of it caused India to get out in the first round itself - then I am happy to be a regionalist. What do you say on that, other than calling by names?
RE:Batsmen let Dravid down??
by Biswajit Ghoshal on Mar 28, 2007 01:54 PM Permalink
Mr. Chakravarthi - rediff is also giving space to you to call others morons. And in which statement did you see any regional bias? But perhaps you do not have any other point to talk good about dravid-chappell duo - and so you resort to call names to others. Shame on you.
