sachin we cant thrust u in crucial matches ,u killed all faith the fans and criket lovers had . if u cant deliver in crucial matches pls retire from onedays.its good for u and team . pls we dont wana see u @2011 world cupC
Vishwanath is the best batsman ever produced by India. His 14 centuries has given 10 test victories to India. I surprise to see that Indian cricket board has never utilised his talent at any level. This is the time now BCCI has to take his opinion and give some life to Indian cricket.
This is not the first time as Mr. Viswanath is talking about the debacle of Indian cricket internationally. Who can forget India getting all out for 42 runs in 1974 in England by almost the same team who won a test series there. I remember at that time the quarrel between Ajit Wadekar and Bishen Bedi in front of youngsters in the team was quoted as the reason for the debacle. Is there any such quarrel this time?
Remember that Indians coaches always prefered the players, who belonged to their zones to players of other zones. It affected mental security and performance of the players as well as unity of indian team. Foreign Coaches are better for coaching indian teams due to the above reasons , updated technologicial means, etc. Coaches are not blamed if the batsmen or bowlers fail to meet expectations.

I fully support your views. It is the stubborn behaviour of Dravid regarding Sehwag/harbhajan ,which might have felt by other indian cricketers very badly. So think like Indian not like Kananadiga. It is the Captain only, who is main culprit. Wall should have been there along with Sehwag and defeated Sri Lanka. That is the spirit required from Captain.

Absolutely rubbish--cant expect everything from coach and captain--by the same logic ganguly should not have been captain for even year--grow up we are all indians---stop getting zones/languages etc into the debate--be realistic

It is not correct to blame Dravid only. Almost all the batsmen are to be blamed, because almost all of them failed in 2 out of 3 games. Even those who scored some runs, they did not stay as long as needed or they scored very slow increasing pressure on other batsman.
There was nothing wrong in the inclusion of Sehwag, Harbhajan. Sehwag performed with the bat in 2 out of 3 games, so he already justified his inclusion. More importantly, he has been the 1st choice 5th bowler in recent times. Harbhajan has been exceptionally economical for last 2-3 years, so he was the obvious first choice spinner. Kumble would not have made any difference at all.
All batsmen should have batted better than they did. 3rd match pitch was very easy to bat on. 1st match pitch was also not bad, as shown by the way Bangla Desh battedt. Yuvraj's run out was one of the silliest I have ever seen. Dhoni put up such a poor show with the bat that no one could have imagined. Even any schoolboy in India would understand that the way Dhoni played very first ball (we are talking about Murali here, no ordinary bowler) was simply not the way it should have been played!
Bowlers (incl Agarkar) did a commendable job overall. True, Harbhajan had a bad day by his standards, otherwise giving 55 odd runs of 10 overs on a batting track is not a very poor performance.

no doubt you are a non kannadiga. to think vishy is supporting dravid because he is kannadiga is nonsense.
Vishy answer would be same, even if india was let by ganguly or sachin. when vishy said that batsmen let the team down it includes dravid himself.
to expect dravid to score 175 like kapil against a non sense one. kapil had nothing to loose after india's 17/5, so he started thowing the bat and found lucky not to get out. if it was not fluke, why india lost hell lot of matches despite kapil's presence.
don't be narrow minded. it people like you who seperate people with in the country.
and for your kind information im not a kannadiga but an indian from maharastra.
Sachin also took retirement in the same way as per the latest news coming up through Jamaikan website. Lets wait for any indian news paper to publish the report
It is all crystal clear that a conspiracy was hatched by people with vested interets to oust the captain, coach and some other players so that they can install their favourites. See the talk going on about making Sachin as captain, sandeep Patil as the coach etc. They can as well declare Mumbai team only will represent India. Hockey where India were the champions was brought down by similar people with parochial interests and now cricket is going to face the same fate.
Yes , The photo is wrong . Pl put the correct picture. Vishy was a great player during 70's . Those days only 2 or 3 good batsman use to be in the Indian Team . Who can forget the series in 1975 India v/s West indies which was virtually Vishy v/s WI. I can not forget his classic 97 NO in Madras againist great bowlers like, Roberts, Holding, Gorner , Marshell etc.Again he is agreat sportman . Remember as captain he recalled Tayler for batting , eventhough Umpire has given the batsman out, By his decision India last the match , But won the hearts of sportman. I Thinh Vishy to be involved in coaching our batsman to face genuine fast bowling .

Vishy's 97 Not out was made against bowling of Roberts, Holder and Keith Boyce and Bernard Julian (Lance Gibbs was the spinner). Holding made his debut in the Following series in Australia 1976 which windies lost 5-1 and Garner against Pakistan in 1977 and Marshall against India in 1979 under Alwin Kalicharan. (Ask Vengsarkar, the only person, Marshall's soul will never forgive). West Indies team is the only team I follow for the last 35 Years, over Radio or TV (besides Aussies of now), so want to settle the facts. yes Vishy is a great player and a gentleman the game had. (Ask Bob Taylor of England, he would agree)
I think the player DO NOT understand the honour and value of representing a country. It was yesteryear's story that people literally struggled hard to get into team. Now it is the same. Once u r there into the team you are flooded with so much of money, You dont really understand the real business.
I have very high regard to Sachin, Dravid etc. BUT as a fan of cricket I call upon them to show guts by 1) Doing nothing other than playing for the country 2) Start playing cricket, Stop accepting any new advertisements/commercial endrossement. 3) Be an Indian.
If you cant do this. I do invite you to talk about your past laurels and LEAVE the cricket team. Go and mint money in commercials.
I wish our National game-Hockey starts getting the recognition and investments as much it deserves. For the matter all the sports EXCEPT cricket.
The image of Rahul Dravid wiping his tears, the sunken faces of Sachin & Yuvraj...and all other team members including the Coach!!! They tell a story -- none of our disappointment would compare with what these guys began to feel from the moment we became 112 for 6. If the Indian team had returned with the Cup...we would have partaken in the team's joy. Today is the moment of reckoning, for all of us. We have to stand tall and stand by them. Make them realise how much we have loved them, how much we cherish their performances and them... as our heroes. Next world cup; Rahul & Sourav at 38, Sachin at 37 -- very unlikely they would be there. Let's stand by them today to tell them we love the game and them. We understand it is only a game and it has the proverbial uncertainties. All the reason why we love it so madly. From a Loving Fan to All Fans of Indian Cricket.....

If I remember correctly,at so many times Rahul has commented that there is unnecessarily big hype regarding World cup in India.WC is just like any other tournament/matches. I hope now he has understood the WC and shall never forget the lesson.

Hats off to you Nishith for your very understanding and concerned mail. I hope everyone gets the message and supports the team, while the Cricket Board does the needful correction.

Well said. Thats how a good fan should treat the stars. They have done a lot for the game. If so many children are taking to the game, it is not just for the money involved in it.
The strong performances of Sachin, Dravid, Kumble and Sourav over the past so many years played a key role in sustaining the interest brought about by the players of the bygone era, like Kapil, Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Jimmy Amarnath and Vengsarkar. Forget about what they get by endorsing products. Let all the big players play for their respective states and zones and tone up their game. If more capable players can walk into the side by outperforming the proven stars, then its fine for the game.
