bhai,do u still need a coach for a player who has player the most ODI's than any1 else ..... do u need coach for 3 indians of the 5 guys who scored more than 10K ..... guru can be pointed when things go wrong all the time ..... but members have to be blammed when it mattered ..... chappel is the same coach for bermuda as well, wud u still blame him for winning against another minnow? ..... com'on bhai .....
Whatever, Guru Greg's acheivements have been, and they have been discussed passionately here already... at least one thing is certain.. that Guru Greg is totally media hooked... he craves media attention... Is this a desirable quality in a coach ? Its primarily because of him that so much mudslinging has been done in the media, and damn its still going on... sms ?
I remember Guru Greg said he was 1. "not employed by you people" and 2. several questions to him were "inflammatory" 3. journalists wanted to "put words in his mouth" 4. He will not blame anyone (god bless his soul) and that this is "collective" failure.
After that he himself is frantically sending smses to whom ?
Media - to whom he said all these things - to whom he said he will not blame anyone before BCCI meeting - I wonder who is with Guru Greg on the other side who is "forcing" him to type these messages. (some big ugly man ?)
As a team India has failed fine... but as a coach... whose first job is to ensure the players are shielded from too much attention... he has failed miserably...
Out with him I say... and bring in a more talented and a more respectable coach... And take your time to find one... if Tom Moody can motivate a ageing SriLankan team to be top performers... age is no bar for Indian players as well. A team needs a healthy atmosphere... and if the coach cannot handle all this... he himself should leave. (which he will not, given a chance, which i hope he is not given).
I'm quite sure much more drama will still unfold come this April 6. Its a mess chaps...
Sourav Ganguly has made a complete mess of the Indian team. He made his way back to the team and alongwith it came the demise of Indian Cricket. He is known to have formed groups and stayed with them thereby spoiling the team spirit which eventually ruined team India. Also as he was not the captain he ensured that he played selfishly which was the main reason for India's loss. In Bangladesh match I think he must have been in the Bangla team as both WB and Bangladesh r more or less same in their culture language and thinking.

dear Patriot you are the most retarded fool I hv ever come across....pointing fingers at Sourav ; am quite sure you be from Bangalore or Nagpur - Rahul Dravid's hometown and sasuraal respectively....people like u should be subjected to 3 years of rigourous Army training so that such communal feelings are nipped in the bud....you are such a loser, Man!

You silly patriot...then India lost the Srilanka match becuase Dravid, being a south Indian, has a very similar culture and language as the Lankans.
why do you keep witing this bull shit things? People like you are a threat to the communal harmony of India.

Your message too is not very helpful to the communal harmony.
You also show a complet lack of understanding of our country's culture. Dravid is a maharashtrian and his culture is not similar to that of the Lankans.
Seems like you make friends only with people that come from similar cultural background.
IT IS WRONG ON CHAPPEL'S PART TO COMMENT ON SELECTION OF PLAYERS.HIS JOB IS TO COACH,MOTIVATE AND EXTRACT MAXIMUM FROM THE PLAYERS. SEE SRILANKANS THEY WERE IN TITS AND BITS TILL MOODY TOOK OVER.SEE THEIR PERFORMANCE NOW.SAME CAN BE SAID OF SA,BEFORE THE PRESENT COACH TOOK OVER THEY WERE AT THE BOTTOM OF RATINGS.NOW THEY ARE ON THE TOP.EVEN A TEAM LIKE KENYA REACHED SEMIFINALS IN THE LAST WORLD CUP WITH SANDEEP PATIL AS COACH. SO MY ADVISE IS NOT TO COMPLAIN OF SELECTIONS.HE DID NOT DO THE JOB EXPECTED OF HIM.THE SAME INDIAN TEAM REACHED FINALS OF PREVIOUS WORLD CUP.SO THERE IS NO DREATH IN TALENT.THEY WERE ALL WORLD CLASS PLAYERS.ONLY ATTITUDE WAS THE PROBLEM.MIND SET WAS NEGATIVE. CHAPPEL MAY BE A GOOD PLAYER AND CAN BE GOOD AT ADMINISTRATION BUT HE IS NOT A GOOD MOTIVATOR.NEGATIVE MOTIVATION BRINGS OUT NEGATIVE RESULTS.

That is a cruel thing to say! He may have dissapointed the nation by not performing but neither he nor the team deserves such remarks.
Its fans like you that our cricket team can do without! Shame on you!

The senior Board members should also be targeted for taking all of us for a ride. Politicians should stay away from sports else they will bring in their unhealthy habits into the game and kill it completely which is already dying a slow death. I think by 2011 there will be no cricket in India if Pawar continues to be at the helm.
Thats my question? What is the actual team selection policy of the BCCI? Do the ******* there think this is a child's play? The public are being fooled by making the "so-called" players in the world cup matches. How many of them do you all think are eligible to play a single match?
Well Greg, had you goen there for a picnic or what? The pre and post world cup news make us feel so!!! Really, why did you take the two players like Sreeshanth and Irfan Pathan? They could've easily been played in the matches against Bermuda and Bangladesh. Do you think, no??? If your focus were on the senior players, what the **** did they do on the grounds? Is the seniority the only criteria for team selection? Then, you should have taken Gavaskar, Kapil, Vengsarkar and other heroes who had won us the world cup, once upon a time. And do not say now that you were no happy with the team that you were given. You're the coach and you have to show the power of your position in any part of the game. We can not favour your opinion, at this condition. Be bold enough to say no to anythign that you cannot accept as far as the Indian team is concerned... Well, you will have to prove your point, anyways...

Do u follow news, greg has asked for youngsters and hez whining that he has been given lame duck seniors who unanimously opposed to include players like raina. get the facts before u comment. By the way coach doesn't select a team..coach can suggest but it is up to the selection committee to form a team
RE:[object]
by VSS on Mar 28, 2007 04:16 PM Permalink
btw..coach cannot decide who are the final 11 to play. coach will suggest and it is the captain who decides the 11 before going to toss. Coach has nothing to do with selection. His job is to coach and submit an analysis on the performance of each player. I don't think bcci will go by the analysis of a coach. Players are selected on zonal basis. Say if both yuvraj and harbhajan performed badly. still they cannot drop both. coz atleast one player has to be in the team from that zone.
I am ashamed to be a Mumbaikar. The entire cricketing power vests in Maharashtra with Pawar, Vengsarkar etc., which is why human baggage like Sachin still exists in the cricket team. Cant he visibly see how players like Inzamam, Warne, McGrath announced retirements. Does he not have any self-esteem. Now he wants to become the captain and if that happens thats perfect recipe for 2011 worldcup disaster. And thats ample opportunity for him not to score runs and he'll be forgiven for the fact that he's the captain.
Ofcourse he'll take to task all the Bangladesh bowlers in the upcoming series and all sachin fans would rejoice. All through his life he's played for his selfishness and his personal records. Cant he learn lessons from ppl like Ponting, Lara, Hussey etc.,

To learn lessons from the legends whom u have mentioned one needs 2b selfless. Sachin as u rightly said plays only for personal records just like how Gavaskar did. I think all those people ending with kar's Gavas(kar), Tendul(kar), Vengsar(kar), Agar(kar) only do that and to expect them to resign on their own is like asking for moon. The only solution is he should be thrown out.

Absolutely Right. Great men leave the field when people are still asking Why, rather than Why Not?
