Salute to Rahul and Sachin..!
by Ian Chappel on Mar 28, 2007 08:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Mates! I guess my dear bro Greg couldn't understand the culture and work ethics of this country. I belive not every great player becomes a good coach but he can be a good thinker of the game.

I think what India did wrong is 'not using their inform players properly specially Dhoni'.I think he is a very good thinker of the game but Rahul and Greg used this inform player in the very end of the inning which cost them badly. I am a supporter of this theory that when you have a player who is in tremendous form use him upfront don't use him as a 'precaution'...In srilanka match I was hoping that Rahul would send Dhoni at no. 3 but he didnt and when he came nothing much was there to be done, game was actually over that time.

I think Dravid was also lacking in imagination and captaincy and he looked quite stubborn too by sticking with out of form players as if he wants to prove a point that he is right..!

Dravid should leave the captaincy now but should remain in the team as a senior pro who can guide young blood, same thing you can say for Sachin too.

I think Yuvi is the best choice for India with Dhoni as his deputy. While committed players like Sachin and Rahul around I guess both the young guys are quite capable of leading the team.I have never seen any commited players like Rahul and Sachin in this whole cricket world. Cricket will allways learn from both these jenious..Both these guys will always remain as a living book for younger generation. I salute them!

Only looser gives the excuses..

There is no use of saying, if he would have been selected, result would be like this.. like this.. there should not be places for if and else when u r going to play international level.

Chappel s very right
by JD on Mar 28, 2007 02:04 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Today's cricket s a combination of being athletic and powerfull. I am sure Dravid, Ganguly, Sachin, Kumble are all getting older. They were greats during their time. They have done lot good to Indian cricket. But the truth is, they have to be quicker between wickets, agile while fielding and more importantly be a living role model not only on the paper

you are right, the modern cricket has changed and there is no place for only technique. what we require is some of technique and the rest is power and speed and challenging spirit which is lacking in the older players, as they have to play to defend their past name. In case younger blood is taken they need not worry about records and there only AIM will be play and WIN.

Scam SMS
by Siva on Mar 28, 2007 01:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why would Chappell goes and send an SMS to a journalist? He doesn't have time for all this. This is the best example of how a media person can provocate the people by giving false information. This is definite act of vilification of Team India and the BCCI. Rediff don't publish articles like this.

requirement of being cricket fan
by Ifear paceman on Mar 27, 2007 11:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First wake up early morning. Brush teeth. Have tea or any thing.

Go to a ground have running of 5 rounds to a cricket ground or straight patch about 2 km.

Next take cricket ball or a stone weighing 160 grams throw at a distance of 50 mtrs 10 times.

do all massage to shoulders and legs at night.

Do the same feat again next morning.
If you are able to do it then start commenting on any sport including cricket.

Or else just go and do your work....

Why we loose Analysis
1 FRANCHISING, People think we loose because of quota system, but quota system itself is not bad.
Consider this West Indies during 60's 70's 80's use to have quota system for selection for each Island nation.
Our problem is Franchising or endorsement. Companies with media in their hand try to push there players in the team.
Our former players and selectors also let personal relationships decide who is going to play.
e.g. See Sandip Patil who is telling(Hamesha se kahte aa rahe hai) on star that new players should be given chance, just before match wanted
Kumble in for his experience.
If there is no franchising and we play team with 2 best players from each region we are likely to win the game.

2 BAD FIELDING,Ever considered why Jaysurya Chris Gyle are so hard to score against rather than Ganguli, Sachin as part time bowler.
Its fielding. Nothing beats a catch taken verses catch never attempted allowed to touch boundary line.

3 Issues with Veterans.
Sachin is currently unable to perform as he used to. I know most of the people usually see India's score and Sachin's score in matc we loose and thats all it takes to blame him for defeat. Hence I do not want to blame him for defeat but just making point that he has not remained mentally tough as he used to and thats why we need to rest him in alternate matches and find replacement.
Saurav made great come back but now all his focus is shifted in making big scores and he is not at all making use of limitations in initial overs. We should allow him to play more freely and not blame for every small score but at the same time its time to find his replacement too.
Harbhajan singh, When the last time you remember him doing anything special (include minnows too) This is time to go, Sorry Bhajji.
Kumble Greatest player India ever produced (Now is Time to go)

4 Captainship and coach.
If team does not look full of self confidence and enthusiasm credit usually goes to this too.
Drawid was also little to headstrong with Sehwag, (Giving chance to Gautam Gambhir would have solved issue)
His main concern should have been Winning and not Sehwag's form. Sehwag would have come good later.

5 Fast bowling.
This is issue and non issue. Problem is that our fast bowling is not bad but its not good either. Worse we do not have good replacements.
No Offense guys but Srishant and Pathan are no replacements for Aagarkar and Zahir. (Agreed Irfan can be 4th batsman allrounder)
We need a bowler like Vaas, McGrath, Akram Brett Lee, Shaul Pollok who gets batsman worried and knows how to force wicket not how toget wicket. None of our bowlers cross 140. Aagarkar is around 135, Zahir is 130, Munaf , Srsanth 120 and Pathan is somewhere 110.
I know speed is not everything but its needed. Lanka has Fernando who bowls 140. Mortaza bowls 140 and inthis big nation we do not have anyone.
We also need accurate bowler and I believe no one except Munaf is accurate to bowl less wides and No's.

6 New Players should not be comfortable
We should Keep Yuvi, Dhoni on Short leash. Currently they are the best we have but no air in the head.

5. Fast Bowling i agree........ just wondering what happened to munaf, in this first series against England, he alone won the match against england in Mohali, i still remember his morning spell , fast swinging yorker, if i am not wrong he got 3/4 lbw that moring and he also troubled one of the best played KP. He troubled KP with his speed and finally got him outi guess caught and bowled. he was bowling 140 in india. but now he harly cross 125 mark in one and in test too. I remember hussain keep on prasing munaf, b'coz of his speed, swing and accuracy. But all of sudden he became a slow bolwer, wht the reason ....... fitness may be. if he is still not fit, pls drop him, give him time to improve his fitness, look at his fielding, he can harldy throw. I not against munaf, i really like munaf, but look at glen he 36/37still one of the safest fielder and our munaf just 23..........

hahaha nice joke. do you think kapil, ravi shastri, gavaskar, mohnider etc are coaching material? Kapil has been tried as a coach before, you better know the results. As for Ravi Shastri, uyou whould wonder how he kept his place in the side by playing politics, not performing at all. Sunil gavaskar has no time for coaching. He's a businessman. As for Mohinder Amarnath, first let him do proper commentary work. A Coach should have played at the highest level and should have coached a domestic or foreign team. In this respect, Krish Srikanth, Robin Singh, Anshuman Gaekwad, Karsan Ghavri, Sandeep Patil, Bobby Simpson, Greg Chappell,Tom Moody,John Wright can be considered. So, the coaching job should go to one of these gentlemen.

why a player should always depend on a coach, why should somedody constantly tell the player to play, Wach palyer should have morale responsibilty to play upto the mark as per circustances, if he cann't he should quit the game, and start some bussiness
