As for present form, India should've not reached super 8. But if you look at the form in the past 3 years, they should have reached the semifinals.
Now for Arjun's article, I agree with most of his comments except for the comment that Indians do not need fitness and stamina. This becomes extremely important if you have some players you cannot do with. Take the example of Irfan Pathan, who was difficult to replace when he got injured.
Every single team in the world cup is playing like a team. There is a reason that team factor is getting all the emphasis. It is important that India also do the same. Building a team with younger players is easier than with seniors.
If we give up the idea of Gods playing cricket for us and let the team play, then you wouldn't have hero worship and effigies burnt. Like West Indies is playing like a team with a great batsman like Lara in it. It should be the same for Indian team.
About Sachin, I wonder why he always comes in the picture. It's not just coincidence that if he fails, the rest of the team fails. If Dravid also fails, then we definitely lose the game. It's not the case with Australia or South Africa. If Gilchrist or Ponting fail, they have 3 others who will win the game for them. Same with South Africa.
If Sachin has lost the eye for fast bowling, I wonder why we cannot find someone to replace him. If we cannot find someone in India, lets look if any player in other teams can take up his role. Let us count, who can be the possibilities - Ponting, Lara, Kallis and .....?
Let's face it, he is the best batsman by far. You can feel it more when Dravid fails. Let him groom players who can take up at least 70% of what he has done for Indian cricket.
Hope for the best for the future of Indian Crickt. And keep Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly, you cannot replace them just by the drop of the hat.

Both the electronic and to a certain extent the print media is to be blamed for this--A few parochial channels gleefully were after Greg and Dravid, unforgiving for the slight (imagined) that they were responsible for ganguly's exit from captaincy and team India.the fact that Dravid has been the most consistent batsman and even scored 60 in the sri lanka match seems to be lost on them. How can dravid be responsible for the inept batting performance of others? when greg wanted fresh youngsters in the team, he was forced to take seniorsciting experience.--add to that ex cricketers and captains who pretend that they have never lost agame and your cup of woe is complete.Sharad pawar says taht from now on only merit will be taken into consideration!--excuse me--than how was this team chosen/ And just who are those worthies creating mischief and discord within the team? have we not heard of leaked team secrets via text messages in the last match? How come our sanctimonious media channels keeping strangely quiet? the need of the hour is sanity and not outrageous comments and silly messages.

hahah mr navin, if i am playing like him , i am happy to retire for there sucess of indian cricket team. u know navin sachin have soem ego attached to him.
This should be the salary for our players if our team should progress as No.1 in Cricket world it should be match based. like daily wage.. u play today match ,then u will earn 1000Rs for batting, 1000Rs for bowling and 1000Rs per catch. and 500Rs for every 30 runs saved

ya.. actually first thing is No player is allowed to do modeling. Sick leave , yes they can take but like all professional fields u will have limited sick leaves per year.

saala.... madan mohan dikhadiya teri jaath ki format. Well its a sport and let it go. Dont post such hole comments. Well they leave everything just because they are pleying for the nation. You go there and see the conditions how tough it is. When there is so much pressure on them from the whole country. Its a Gentlemen game and we should enjoy and digest the fact that Srilanka and Bangladesh played a good cricket. Even india was beaten by west indies in the 1983 world cup league match. But somehow it managed to come to the finals with there Good performance and finals...its was india's day. But soon after the world cup.. india was beaten by west indies 5 - 0 in tests and 4 - 0 in One dayers. this is cricket and some team can get a golden day. Lets cheer our country and there are people to look after thier performance and hope we have a good cricket season ahead ... All the best guys

Just look at any other country who follow sport, they support their team when they win and when they lose. They are critical of their teams but not talk like a bunch of jokers like you.

Mr. Navin, You are correct. I never said anything wrong abt their loosing or winning. For anyone to perform well , we should do this in sports. We may sound jokers to u, but finally we do watch cricket and we support our team.
the indian team should be given counselling. they must be counselled to play as a unit. cricket is a team game. all the members should be dedcicated and have team spirit. non-performing seniors like saurav, sachin, kumble, agarkar and harbajan should retire. No place for dhoni too.pick up kaif, raina, rao.
