Ganguly
by Osho on Mar 22, 2007 06:41 AM  Permalink

Having made previous comments on Dada... Rahul will not be able to cope with the pressure against Lankans...Ganguly would have done it . Guys India will be out of the cup..

Ganguly please! please!!! play fast..
by Osho on Mar 22, 2007 06:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Ganguly MVP???..he plays like a snail.. just look at his score 155 in 243 against Smith who opens as well 158 in 124..243 is like using 40 overs..in 40 overs a team scores around 200 runs.. and an individual should score more.. Look at Ganguly..it looks like he believes in survival of the slowest...

It seems like he is playing as per the game plan. But he should definitely rotate the strike and not play any maiden overs.

On Indian Express, we get a peek into the possible game plan that our team will employ in it's bid for the World Cup.
On the team sheet, this would mean seven batsmen and four bowlers, with Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Dhoni expected to play key roles. Tendulkar, at No 4, is expected to take the scoring reins around the 12-20 overs phase, Yuvraj, at No 5, during the 20-30 overs period, and Dhoni thereafter. Hopefully, holding fort at the other end will be comeback man Sourav Ganguly in the opening overs and skipper Rahul Dravid later. In this blueprint, you will also find Virender Sehwag, struggling for form and focus, slated to get one final shot as opener, with Ganguly.

MVP

this is so stupid...ganguly has the second highest runs...he shud be atleast in 2nd place...eventhough his run rate is less, he has been the wall and has shown some great talent when the team actually needed it.

And Mr Jack don't tell me your second name is ass..look at the balls consumed by your favourite player..243..how selfish can that be.. he is just ruining everything.

An improved method for calculating MVP
by sudheer sahu on Mar 21, 2007 09:18 PM  Permalink

I have altered rediff's method to some extent to take into account the match situation. As in a high scoring match a low-scoring match, and also bowler's efforts getting rewarded fairly. I have put it on my blog.
The evaluation method is defined at
http://sudheersahu.blogspot.com/2007/03/most-valuable-player-of-world-cup.html
and is applied on first two matches of India in the subsequent articles, which are at http://sudheersahu.blogspot.com/
We can apply the method to all teams all players but for the lack of time I am doing it only on the indian players.

Rank 4
by Vande Mataram on Mar 21, 2007 06:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Scott Styris & Virender Sehwag has same average then why rank 4 and 5 respectivley? Should be like Rank 4 for both... :-)

Dude!! If this kind of situation ever arise in points tally then the ranks are always decided on Alphabetical basis. So, "V" comes after "S". Thats why Virender Sehwag is on 5th and Scott Styris is on 4th.

Your logic fails for the players with rank 155 & 156, and then 165 & 166.

It seems that those who have scored more runs are given bette rank.
